The ABENG LAW FIRM is a bilingual (English and French) business law firm created in 1998 situated in Douala-Cameroon . The Firm has over the years been at the forefront in the advocacy for corporate good governance and acts as a one-stop-shop for Corporations with legal needs in Cameroon since 2003. The Firm is based in Douala, Cameroon’s economic capital and biggest city in the CEMAC sub-region, and has a legal staff of 13. ABENG LAW FIRM also acts as World Bank’s Country Partner in the DOING BUSINESS project and has always been recognized for its involvement in the project. The Managing Partner Roland Abeng is the 2009 winner of the American Bar Association (ABA) Stand Alone Program award for a program on GOOD GOVERNANCE organized in Cameroon in 2009. Abeng is current Vice Chair of the ABA-SIL Africa Committee and also Vice Chair of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cameroon The Law Firm also acts as consultants on Governance and compliance issues for both local and foreign firms and conducts due diligence and compliance inquiries for foreign firms wishing to invest in Cameroon. One of the principal projects of the firm for the year 2018 is advocacy for more transparency within the Cameroon customs department with regards to its dealings with operators within the Oil and Gas Sector of the Economy. This project amongst others would involves and would help to make our Custom Officials understand the needs and exigencies of Operators (from British and U.S origin) with regards to payments and disbursements in the light of UKBA and the FCPA respectively. The Clientele of the Firm is basically foreign-based but we service a wide range of locally based clients with international connections or affiliates.
