Overview
Taller Mecánico Manuel Silva designs, builds and maintains specific machinery for handling bulk solids: clamshell grabs, orange peel grabs, hoppers, conveyor belts, etc. The company gears its efforts towards providing its customers with products that optimize unloading operations and thus improve their performance. Following the introduction of new health and safety regulations and legislation, and due to its concern for the environment, Taller Mecánico Manuel Silva has developed adapted products such as ecological hoppers, automated weigher hoppers, spreaders for unloading railway rails or logs, etc. Constant innovation and new technologies development have enabled Taller Mecánico Manuel Silva to be a pioneer in the creation and distribution of such products. Moreover , Mecánicas Silva , manufactures and distributes tanker trucks, trailer and semi-trailer-tanks and other types of tanks such as LBC's (large bulk container), aircraft refuelling tankers units and multi-service units for public works or road cleaning. It also installs the necessary fuel delivery and measuring equipment: fuel pumps, meters, counter heads, deaerators, etc. Finally , the company continues the service tradition that came into being with Talleres Silvia. The company performs repairs and provides assistance to ships while they are in the ports of Gijón and Avilés, as well as performing the maintenance of machinery and equipment of port companies and industrial facilities. Most notably the Mechanical Maintenance Agreement for the European Bulk Handling Installation S.A (EBHISA), the bulk solids unloading terminal of Port of Gijón, the first in Spain and among the five most important of the European Community.
