Overview

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a not-for-profit educational and service organization that empowers women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering, and to be recognized for their life-changing contributions as engineers and leaders. Founded in 1950, SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career for women through an exciting array of training and development programs, networking opportunities, scholarships, outreach and advocacy activities, and much more. SWE MISSION: Empower women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering and technology professions as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and demonstrate the value of diversity and inclusion. SWE VISION: A world with gender parity and equality in engineering and technology. SWE SAN DIEGO: The San Diego County Section (SWE-SD) was chartered in 1982 and is now one of the largest SWE sections in the country. Its programs and publications have won national acclaim, while its growth and dynamic leaders have won national attention. SWE-San Diego is managed by an elected, volunteer Executive Council, responsible for ensuring the financial and professional well-being of the Section. Officers and committee chairs work together to set and accomplish local goals of growth and visibility, while contributing to the Society’s strategic plan. The members of SWE-San Diego come from diverse areas such as government, defense, research, consulting and manufacturing. Whichever field of engineering you are in, you will find like-minded members! SWE-San Diego has gained recognition from many employers that our programs are worth supporting. The large involvement by women engineers sends a message to corporations that SWE’s goals are important.
