Surfers Paradise Surf Life Saving Club

Public Safety

Overview

The Club was first established in 1925 to attract tourists to the area by providing a safe beach for swimmers. Surfers Paradise owes its progress and status - and the safety of its visitors - to earlier generations of benefactors who had a vision. While providing an outstanding model of surf life saving on the busiest and best known beach in Australia, the quality and courage of our members goes beyond personal interest. In 1958 acts of heroism and self sacrifice were displayed when members of the club were catapulted into the limelight when they heroically participated in a shark attack rescue. This resulted in the club receiving the "Meritorious Award for Bravery" from Surf Life Saving Australia and six members receiving Royal Humane Society awards. In addition to our volunteer surf life saving services, the Surfers Paradise Surf Life Saving Club has a Supporters Club which offers members, their guests and visitors with an atmosphere like no other. Set just back from the beach where you can take in all the rest and relaxation of a beach environment. The Champions Bar offers a number of popular beers on tap as well as a number of other beers, spirits and mixers available. Facilities include TAB, Keno and some of the latest pokie machines, as well as a number of large screen televisions tuned for Fox Sports and other television programs. Olivers Kitchen has a wide variety of meals on the menu and puts emphasis on casual Australian dining. Support your local Surf Life Saving Club and the Community whilst enjoying your favourite beverage. Our newly refurbished function room offers breathtaking views over the iconic Surfers Paradise beach. The function room offers the perfect setting for any event or function with bar and restaurant facilities for hire on the top floor of the Club. Whether your function is large scale or an intimate gathering, we cater for all business formal and casual events, birthdays, weddings, cocktail parties, training and more!
