Overview
At Sunrise, we approach the eight areas of learning with the aim to successfully educate each student to achieve personal excellence and develop the attributes of a quality leader to help fulfil their God given destiny. We see ourselves as an extension of the Christian home. We consider you, the parents, primarily responsible for the education of your child and we seek to assist you in fulfilling this God given responsibility. Our staff seek to make the most of those teachable moments, to train and reinforce right behaviour, to honour and glorify God, and to instil a healthy and rounded world view. Sunrise offers a loving and nurturing environment and we are known to be a place where children feel they belong, where they know the teachers love and respect them, and work hard to enable them to learn and grow. We place Christ at the centre of our community and provide opportunities for students to develop as whole people. For us, Christian education means allowing our faith in Christ to permeate every part of our school life. Forming positive and loving relationship is the beginning of good education. A strong emphasis at Sunrise is the development of Christian character. This is done through positive modelling, understanding God’s word and a dependence on the Holy Spirit. We aim to help children enjoy the transforming work of Christ through Christian love and grace as they learn about His ways. In today’s society it is essential that our children develop an understanding of who they are in Christ and a Biblical world-view as the basis for their self-worth. We have seen for many years that esteem based in God allows the students to reflect integrity, honesty, tolerance and compassion for others which is the very heart of God. These qualities allow the students to have the skills, courage and conviction to ‘stand firm’ for the things they believe in and to be leaders in an increasingly complex society.
