Overview

Stop Street Harassment (SSH) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to documenting and ending gender-based street harassment worldwide. Catcalls, sexist remarks, groping, leering, stalking, flashing and assault. Most women (more than 80% worldwide) and LGBQT folks will face gender-based street harassment at some point in their life. Street harassment limits people's mobility and access to public spaces. It is a form of gender violence and it's a human rights violation. It needs to stop. SSH address street harassment through public education and community mobilization. Some of our programs include: a Blog Correspondents Program, the Safe Public Spaces Mentoring Program, International Anti-Street Harassment Week, and numerous online toolkits. As a young nonprofit, we have many exciting new projects on the horizon, including a Know Your Rights Legal Toolkit documenting relevant laws state-by-state that could be used to report street harassment. We also are fundraising to conduct the first-ever national study on street harassment in the USA.
