St. Nersess Armenian Seminary

Overview

The only seminary of the Armenian Church in the western hemisphere, our primary mission is to educate priests and non-ordained leaders for ministry in the Armenian Church in North America. St. Nersess is uniquely positioned to develop priests who are able to respond effectively to the spiritual and socio-cultural challenges facing the Armenian Church in America. St. Nersess has given 50+ priests, including four bishops and many lay ministers, who are serving the Armenian Church today. The seminary has also educated thousands of youth conference alumni who, cumulatively, have touched the lives of tens of thousands of people. None of this would have been possible without the many generous benefactors who have supported the seminary’s work over the years. St. Nersess has a faculty of two professors and seven adjunct instructors covering the areas of liturgical theology, sacred music, spirituality, liturgical practicum, Armenian Church patristics, homiletics (Armenian and English), New Testament and Classical and Modern Armenian. The seminary is staffed by a dean, operations manager, and the following part-time employees: administrative assistant, controller, development director, public relations director, a cook and a librarian. St. Nersess is governed by a board of directors, whose president is the Primate of the Eastern Diocese and whose vice president is the Primate of the Western Diocese.
