“Become super strong in another language by practicing with native-speakers globally”, is the slogan used by the company Speakingkong. It is a small revolution that is beginning in the field of languages. Imagine being able to speak for free in the language of your choice with natives of all languages - this is the project of Speakingkong. This is not the first startup for founder Lionel DROUIN. He already founded the edtech company Elephorm, which was sold in part to M6 Web in 2016. Since that time, he has organized language exchange meetups (meetings) in Lyon - from their growing success, he decided to digitize the service in 2016. In fact, many Francophones are noticing their low level of language and want to improve it through real conversations, without following an academic path. The Speakingkong service goes into beta at the beginning of April 2019. Pre-registration is open and the goal is to gather 100,000 subscribers before launching the service. Everyone can talk for free in the beta version, receiving time with native speakers of their target language in exchange for giving conversation time in their native language with other learners. The principle is innovative in that we share time: each conversation lasts about 10 minutes, does not require any appointment and the connection is made by the application. Take note that the service is entirely community-based: without advertising and without exploiting our database with external commercial services, this is a Web service that should disrupt the language landscape.
