Sonairte - The National Ecology Centre

Renewable Energy Semiconductor Manufacturing

Overview

Sonairte is an ecological visitor centre & organic gardens built on a 19th Century renovated historical farm site on the banks of the River Nanny (an SPA protected haven for bird populations of both National & EU importance) with a focus on all things ecology, biodiversity, and sustainable living in Ireland, based just outside the seaside village of Laytown in Co. Meath. The centre offers a variety of facilities including a fully stocked Eco-Shop, Vegetarian/Vegan Cafe, Organic Vegetable Gardens, Riverside-Woodland Nature Trail, Bee Museum and Reduce, Reuse, Recycle shop. At Sonairte, you can enjoy eating “plot to pot” Irish produce at the community-run cafe or bring a picnic to eat in the garden or on the banks of the river. Listen to the birdsong on the ancient Rath/Faery Fort and marvel at the biodiversity of the woodland, meadow and marshes contained within our 10 acre site. Visit our Eco-Shop, which has everything you need to start living a more sustainable life, our sustainable swap-shop, and our bee museum reconstructed from the original farm's bee-keeping room. Sonairte also welcomes community and allotment groups who wish to see and learn about organic gardening in action. Please see the courses section of our website for further information. Or alternatively, call Sonairte and we will make arrangements for your visit to the centre. Sonairte is a registered charity and welcomes tax efficient gifts. RCN2022297
