The Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp) was established to complement and ensure success of the National Solid Waste Management Policy. In general, the policy aims to create a comprehensive, integrated, cost-effective and sustainable solid waste management system that is required by the society who are concerned with environmental protection and public well-being. The corporation is established under the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation Act (Act 673). The corporation was formally established on 1st June 2008 under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT). It has the authority and jurisdiction to administer and enforce the laws of solid waste management, public cleansing and its related matters. The corporation role is to ensure the solid waste management and public cleansing services are implemented efficiently and holistically to fulfill a great expectation and satisfaction of the consumers and community.
