Smith Women in Finance (SWIF) is a student-run organization committed to the advancement of those who identify as women in the field of finance by fostering diversity and inclusion through building a pipeline of women. We are a group who is committed to empowering women through professional development opportunities and mentoring from women who are leaders in their field of choice. Pillars: Community-Building: Create a community of individuals committed to promoting women in finance, generating opportunities for SWIF and its affiliates through social and networking events Professional Development: Foster professional and personal growth to enable women to excel in finance and leverage opportunities via the mentorship program, case competition, and other workshops These goals are achieved through: Mentorship: Often we don’t know what is possible until we see someone like us in those positions. We believe it is important for women to help each other navigate the professional world so that we can all work together to get to our goals. We intend to enable women by providing mentorship opportunities for women students with women who are leaders in their field of choice. Events: Bringing us together with common purpose for events through events such as the case competition and kick-start the annual SWIF alumni appreciation event. Communications: Expanding our platform and impact for ourselves and women around us by embracing and utilizing new marketing techniques and by strengthening our brand. Partnerships: Foster partnerships that will enable speakers, mentors, and sponsorship for SWIF.
