Overview

Our team at SSM is focused on the design and realisation of high quality architecture. We have a wide portfolio of projects and a creative team with an enthusiasm for new challenges. Established in 1995, the practice has developed into dynamic team capable of addressing almost any project. Led by Directors Eugene Mullan, Jamie Bateman, Rick McCluggage and Graham Acheson and supported by Consultant Alistair Scott and a consistent group of senior staff, we can provide skills and expertise across a wide range of project types. We have now successfully delivered over 500 individual projects throughout Scotland and Northern England. These include large-scale urban regeneration, residential developments, business centres, sports facilities, educational and civic buildings, refurbishments, conservation of historic buildings and interior design projects. Recently, in addition to our many award-winning housing projects, we have created a house for rare alpine plants, refurbished an Edwardian theatre, rescued a 1930s listed roadhouse and planned a spa hotel overlooking Ben Nevis. Our success is founded on a combination of creative skills and a structured approach to the management and delivery of our projects. We focus on gaining a deep understanding of the issues which are vital to our clients and always try to be enjoyable people to work with. Our architecture combines a respect for context with a commitment to create both economic and social value through contemporary buildings and places. As a result, we have a group of very loyal clients, a list of awards for our work and a team eager to take on the next challenge. Our Architects are all registered with the Architects Registration Board and SSM is an RIAS Chartered Practice. We have significant involvement with various other organisations including Architecture & Design Scotland, Architects Benevolent Society, Causeway: Ireland Scotland Business Exchange, Merchant Company of Edinburgh and Crags Community Sport Centre.
