Back in 2009 businesses voted for a Business Improvement District (BID) to be set up in Skipton and re-voted for the BID to continue in 2014 and again in 2019. By doing so the businesses have enabled the BID board to invest approximately £1.5 million in Skipton to date. Retail businesses within the BID area who have a business rateable value of over £6,000 become a BID Business, benefitting from its services and receiving a vote when it comes to renewing the BID in 2024 for another five years. There are opportunities to get involved for businesses under the rateable value threshold, by becoming an affiliate or voluntary business member.
