Overview

Showcase Scotland Expo works to promote the international export of Scottish-based musicians working in the genres of folk, traditional and world music. Most often this is via targeted industry showcases and presentations at key conferences and showcase festivals worldwide, with previous partners including Folk Alliance International (USA), East Coast Music Association (Canada), Babel Med (France), Australian Music Week, English Folk Expo and the Rudolstadt Festival (Germany) to name just a few. We also produce The Visit; an inward bound trade mission for the overseas music industry, which targets delegates from key territories to visit Scotland, watch and engage with our artists, and meet the wider Scottish music industry. During the Covid pandemic, Showcase Scotland Expo pivoted to a number of online initiatives, ensuring that Scottish artists’ profiles remain high amongst international markets with both audiences and industry - including Global Music Match, Postcards from Scotland, and Scotland at Folk Unlocked (Folk Alliance International) 2021. Showcase Scotland Expo is supported by Creative Scotland, and was born out of the Showcase Scotland conference within Celtic Connections. Since 2000, the event has annually brought 200 invited delegates to Glasgow during the January festival to book and work with Scottish artists, with an annual return of over £2million in fees secured.
