Overview

Koichi Tanaka Mass Spectrometry Research Laboratory was established in January 2003 after Koichi Tanaka was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2002 ”for their development of soft desorption ionisation methods for mass spectrometric analyses of biological macromolecules”, for example proteins. With MALDI-MS (Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization- Mass Spectrometry) as our core technology, we are committed to contributing to society through development of new technologies such as early detection of protein related diseases, structural analysis methods for biomolecules and the high-sensitivity mass spectrometry systems.
