Overview

The SFIA Foundation is a global not-for-profit organisation, whose main role is to maintain and distribute SFIA. The Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) has been around since the turn of the century, and is a system for IT Professionals to match the Skills of the workforce to the requirements of the business. It is a logical two-dimensional skills framework defined by areas of work on one axis and levels of responsibility on the other. It has been proven as an effective resource that benefits business by facilitating all aspects of the management of capability in corporate and educational environments. SFIA helps at all stages of the skills management cycle: organisational design, resource planning, recruitment, deployment, assessment, development, remuneration. We are committed to maintaining SFIA as an effective management resource by an open process of public consultation. SFIA is available free of charge to companies and individuals who use SFIA purely as an internal management resource, not distributing SFIA information and not exploiting SFIA commercially. Payment is only required from individuals and companies who exploit SFIA by using it to support the sale of their products and services. These are our valued partners and consultants. The Foundation works to develop SFIA and encourage and support its use within organisations using information systems. The Foundation is governed by its Board of Directors. Input to help define strategic direction is provided by the SFIA Council. Support for users of SFIA is provided by our Accredited Consultants, Accredited Partners, and Training Providers. General exchange of information between users of SFIA is facilitated by the SFIA User Forum.
