Overview
In The School of Molecular and Cellular Biology, we seek answers to fundamental questions about how organisms work and the many implications for life. Through a rich culture of collaboration, we drive new discoveries in human health and empower students with the critical and analytical skills needed for successful careers. MCB is home to outstanding undergraduate and graduate programs, with roughly 1,500 undergraduate students and 220 PhD students. Our world-class departments include Biochemistry, Cell & Developmental Biology, Microbiology, and Molecular & Integrative Physiology. Researchers in MCB lead groundbreaking advances and are often recognized for their contributions to society, such as election to the National Academy of Sciences and National Academy of Inventors. Our students arrive on campus as leaders and continue to lead in their chosen fields after graduating, whether those careers are in academia, industry, nonprofits, or governmental agencies.
