For a new ethic in dealing with animals. In the world, there is a growing understanding that wild animals were not born to be confined or exposed. We know that they also experience feelings and affects, not only reactively and mechanically, but with degrees of consciousness. They feel sad or happy, welcomed or rejected. They perceive their experiences positively or negatively. Animal sentience is one of the concepts that guide the work of professionals and guardians of the Sanctuary. We are a shelter for wildlife individuals rescued from trafficking and illegal trade. We welcome animals that have survived maltreatment, which experts rate as unable to return to their natural habitats. The keep was created in 2014 and houses birds and primates. Our mission is to provide the best quality of life for these beings. Animal Care meets all the Brazilian's technical requirements of the official bodies for installation of the enclosures, animal handling, materials used, food, medication, veterinary care and zootechnical monitoring. We are located in the municipality of Angra dos Reis, in Serra da Bocaina, preserved region of the Atlantic Forest of Rio de Janeiro State.
