Overview
The San Antonio Education Partnership (SAEP) was established in 1989 by a group of San Antonio city leaders. Mayor Henry Cisneros gathered an integral group of education innovators representing the City of San Antonio, leaders of the local colleges and universities, superintendents of the local school districts, Communities Organized for Public Services (COPS), and Metro Alliance. This group worked together to create an organization that gave and continues to give at-risk students the tools to successfully navigate the process of applying and enrolling in postsecondary studies. Nearly 30 years later, SAEP has become a pillar organization in creating a “college-going culture” within the San Antonio community, providing key services for students to reach their college and career goals. The collaborative primary goal is to increase education attainment in the San Antonio community which will improve the city’s economic vitality. We have three programs that we utilize to achieve our goal of helping students reach their higher education goals. Cafecollege is a walk-in resource center for students or parents to speak 1-on-1 to an advisor. We have our Road to Success program that places an SAEP advisor is 27 partner high schools to advise within the high school. Lastly, we have our Upgrade program that aims to assist the adult population who have attended college and have some college credit(s) but have not yet completed thier degree.
