Overview

The mission of Sammy's Superheroes is to raise awareness for all childhood cancers and to fund life-saving research. While childhood cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease in children, only 4% of federal cancer research funding is allocated to children. In 2012, when the foundation was just beginning, only one new drug had been approved for use in childhood cancer patients in 20 years. In 2015, Sammy’s Superheroes rebranded and continues to grow. The foundation has been dedicated to spreading awareness for childhood cancer and donating funds raised to the most innovative research doctors and hospitals in hopes for a cure. Sammy’s Superheroes Foundation was created overnight by a group of family friends shortly after 4-year-old Sammy Nahorny was diagnosed with cancer. Out of fear and frustration when Sammy was not responding to treatments and after some research, the group in Columbus, Nebraska, realized children fighting cancer needed a voice.
