Sah-sen (pronounced SAW-sen) is the aboriginal name for the hummingbird in the Pacific Northwest. It is admired for its agility, endurance and adaptability. In Native American legends, it is regarded as a messenger of joy, frequenting flowers to make the world a more beautiful place. Sahsen is also a guide and an omen of luck. Because of its boundless energy and its ability to fly backwards, the hummingbird is revered for its ability to connect people together.
