Overview

On March 18, 2016, Sandra Madison, AIA, became majority owner and the firms new CEO & Chairperson. Along with her two business co-owners, R. Kevin Madison, AIA, President, and Robert Klann, AIA, CFO, the firm embarks on a new chapter of the Robert P Madison International, Inc. story. Today, the firm is the largest black female owned architecture firm in the State of Ohio. The firm has significant experience in working in several types of project delivery methods including Design-Build (DB) Design-Bid-Build (DBB), and Construction Manager at Risk (CMR). Sandra Madison, AIA has dedicated 28 years to the firm’s success. During Sandra’s tenure, RPMI has had significant roles on an array of signature projects including the Downtown Hilton Hotel, Cleveland Convention Center, Jack Casino, Ahuja Medical Office Building, GCRTA Euclid Corridor Health Line, Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland Browns Stadium, Global Cardiovascular Innovations Center, GCRTA Waterfront Line, Cleveland Public Library Main Branch Historic Restoration, Quicken Loans Arena, Great Lakes Science Center, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. Sandra’s service and dedication to Cleveland has not gone unnoticed, as she has been recognized as a top CEO by Crain’s Cleveland Business in 2017, a top FBE by the OhioMBE Awards 2017 and just recently won SBA Cleveland District Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year 2018. The office was founded on July 17, 1954, when Robert P. Madison opened an office for the practice of architecture and engineering in Cleveland, Ohio. This was the first architectural firm established by an African-American in the State of Ohio and the tenth in the entire United States.
