Overview

This pilot is designed to spread the benefits of economic immigration to smaller communities by creating a path to permanent residence for skilled foreign workers who want to work and live in one of the pilot’s participating North Okanagan communities. This pilot is funded by the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia. Vernon and the surrounding communities within approximately 40 kms was recognized as an area that could benefit from this pilot. Through RNIP, employers can extend their employee’s status, or bring in a new worker on a LMIA-exempt RNIP-specific work permit, saving cost and time. Community Futures has entered into a partnership with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to offer this pilot in the North Okanagan. The community is using this pilot to strengthen our local economy and support the development of our workforce. The RNIP Coordinator for Vernon North Okanagan is available to help employers understand the program and offer direct support all through the application process. The Coordinator can help from the beginning of your search for an employee up to approval of Permanent Residence. This starts with a one-on-one training session. Support includes forwarding applications from qualified candidates through the RNIP job website to you, making hiring easier.
