RiskHouse Africa is an actuarial science and risk assessment based Company, started by University of Cape Town Graduate and Actuary Amith Haribhai. RiskHouse Africa specialises in the actuarial computation and assessment of risk in various aspects of Business, Life and Non-Life Insurance, Legal Transactions, Government Services and Infrastructure Development. BUSINESS The potential for profit and loss inherent in an organisation's operational model and business environment – increased competition, labour unrests, exchange rate fluctuations and adverse economic conditions impacts significantly on an organisation's ability to provide return on investment and shareholder value. Businesses evaluate financial risk in terms of the probability that an achieved return on a business investment could be lower than anticipated. The aspects of risk include: Conceptual risk, Equity and Capital risk, Default on payments or delivery risk, Fiscal conditions risk, Country risk, Exchange rate and Interest Rate risk, Gearing and Liquidity risk, Strategy and Operational risk, Sovereign risk and Insurance Underwriting risk, among others. All infrastructure development projects contain uncertainties in terms the size of project, the timing of the project, the financial risks and the costs envisaged. Managing risk in such infrastructure development projects is a shared responsibility among all critical infrastructure stakeholders, including governments, industry partners and non-government organisations. Partnerships and information sharing represent the building blocks to enhancing the resiliency of critical infrastructure, these cannot be undertaken in isolation of risk management and the development of plans and exercises to address these risks.
