Overview

The main purpose of the group is to encourage, facilitate and support effective research management. The Research Project Managers’ Network (RPMN) will aim to act as a support network and sounding board for issues in day-to-day research grant management, working as a collective to make a meaningful contribution to research and innovation in the North-West. Our objectives are · To provide peer support to research programme/project managers (PMs) by sharing experiences in grant management and problem solving · To support managers with the pre-grant development stage. · To identify the training needs of PMs in the Northwest and work to sign-post/access and discuss suitable training in a supportive network · To invite relevant external groups or individuals to speak at RPMN meetings · To consider research management with reference to national and local priorities · To openly share information on research management and pre-grant processes to help enhance the management skills of members in meetings and via an online shared space · To facilitate a general awareness of significant changes in grant management · To share key generic grant management documents, such as Job Descriptions, project plan templates, protocols, SOPs, finance tracking sheets etc. · To share feedback from local/national conferences/meetings to benefit members · To maintain and nurture close links with relevant key groups, such as, MAHSC, Clinical Research Networks, etc. · To contribute to relevant national and local consultations related to the conduct of research in the Northwest, with a view to shaping research practice related policy · To support research and innovation, dissemination and sustainability The membership will be made up of research managers working in a Health and/or Social Care background, in the North-West. This will include but not be limited to; · Research Programme Managers · Research Project Managers · Clinical Trial Managers · Clinical Trial Coordinators
