Overview

ProLearning is a Microsoft sponsored K-12 Startup developing the next generation of intelligent learning analytics for school leadership teams, classroom teachers, students and parents. The mission of ProLearning is to deliver any information that can be accessed via the advanced analysis of all available data and used as relevant evidence to customise the learning process for each individual student. Advanced technologies, including AI, manage a cloud-based statistical laboratory that interfaces with users in the everyday lexicon of teaching and learning. ProLearning sits above the newer learning management systems that are now being introduced into schools — it draws information from all available sources within a school, and across schools. Core research knowledge is used to implement powerful statistical models designed and run in the Microsoft Azure Cloud. The output from each analysis is tested and validated, before being interpreted in 'ordinary language' and delivered to the user, in milliseconds. All parties directly involved in supporting learning — classroom teachers, parents, and the student — can ask Questions about a students' learning, and receive Answers that focus not only on what the student has or has not learnt, but also inform the next step of the student's learning of a skill or understanding specific knowledge. Simple information derived from repackaging data as charts and tables is also provided where appropriate. However, ProLearning aims to step-over basic business intelligence approaches — which do not provide any analysis of the causal factors that produce learning data — to provide evidence relevant to learning as-and-when-required, simply by a teacher, student, or parent Asking a Question. ProLearning provides teachers with the type of information that was recommended in the Gonski 2 Report (Review to Achieve Educational Excellence in Australian Schools, 2018).
