Increasingly, the solutions to some of humanity's most vexing problems are being sought and uncovered in the spaces between scientific fields. The Rajen Kilachand Center for Integrated Life Sciences & Engineering is a cutting-edge research facility designed to foster such collaboration and comprises the the Biological Design Center (BDC), the Center for Systems Neuroscience (CSN), the Cognitive Neuroimaging Center (CNC), and the Neurophotonics Center (NPC). The scientists gathered under this one roof collaborate in interdisciplinary basic science research that aims to rewrite the story lines for important challenges, such as solving the riddles of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, accelerating our understanding of memory and speech, and delivering on the promise of synthetic biology to make molecules and tissues that mimic natural function and improve lives.
