Overview

QUIRÓS PRESA is a firm founded in 2014 by the architects Itziar Quirós and Pablo López Presa after their experience working in internationally renowned architectural offices (Sou Fujimoto - Tokyo, Wiel Arets Architects - Amsterdam). In 2019, Pablo López Presa stops working for the firm, that nowadays is directed by Itziar Quirós. QUIRÓS PRESA promotes a social vision of architecture to the extent that even the humblest of projects have a transforming function. As strong defenders of Heritage and specialising in Zero-Energy Buildings, their work is a balance between tradition and innovation. Their projects advocate vernacular architecture (such as mud construction), combining it with a contemporary language and cutting edge energy-efficient systems. As a result, some of their projects have been certified by the prestigious German Passivhaus Institute. QUIRÓS PRESA’s work has received several awards as 'Premio de Construcción Sostenible CyL' (2018), 'Premio de Rehabilitación de Arquitectura Tradicional de León' (2019), 'BUILD Architecture Award' (2019) or 'Premio de Arquitectura y Urbanismo CyL' (2018) and has been widely published in national and international magazines as DETAIL (Germany), Divisare (Italy) or ArchDaily (Chile).
