Overview

Quiet-Oceans' mission is to enable sustainable use of the oceans by preserving the balance between human activities at sea and marine biodiversity. The delicate balance between economic imperatives and respect for the environment largely depends on the ability of man to understand the consequences of his activity at sea on marine biodiversity and to adapt his actions to minimize the impact, in particular acoustics: the issues related to noise pollution of the oceans are now known to the maritime community and are now regulated by the legislator. French leader in passive acoustics, underwater noise prediction, monitoring and mitigation, Quiet-Oceans provides state-of-the-art risk assessment tools and management capabilities to help the offshore industry to secure their projects. We support the industry with shaped and pragmatic methodologies and integrated tools adapted to the level of risk and to each stage of the life cycle of the project. With an international portfolio we are well recognized in Europe and in the United States. Regularly consulted by governments from various countries, we are also actively involved in noise regulation, especially by participating with the European Commission Technical Group on Underwater Noise and inputs of other forms of energy. Our services include: • Prediction of ambient noise through mapping • Estimation of noise footprint of industrial projects • Definition of protocols • Real-time passive acoustic monitoring • Real-time noise assessment • Real-time alert • Quantification of risks toward marine life • Mitigation of biological risks • Decision aid These solutions have already been successfully implemented in the framework of offshore wind farm development projects, tidal energy projects, floating offshore wind farms, ocean thermal energy and offshore construction projects in France, Europe, the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean.
