Investment Management

Overview

The Queens Investment Management Group is a group of ambitious undergraduate students at Queens College who manage a portfolio of stocks spanning across a variety of sectors. We seek to provide active members with technical knowledge, financial know-how, and leadership abilities by entrusting a considerable degree of responsibility to each team member. We seek to work with students who are passionate about the financial services industry and are looking to take their interest to a new level. Queens IMG caters to students who are looking towards a career in the financial services industry. We strive to develop our members' abilities and potential to succeed in the professional world by giving them the opportunity to take the knowledge gained in classes and apply it to real work experiences which will help them exceed the highest of employer expectations. Our club’s purpose is to learn (as a team) how to analyze and value companies and invest in the stock market. We will be able to learn more about companies’ financial statements and discuss whether the market is valuing them appropriately. We will have club assignments and projects to apply the knowledge gained from our classes and from the club. We will have 2-3 guest speakers a semester who are currently working in the field to give over there experiences and some useful tips and lessons we can use and learn from. As a learning experience once a semester, each group will create a presentation using data and research of the public company they believe the club should invest in. The group will pitch and display it using PowerPoint. The positions are the following starting from highest level to lowest: OC: CEO, CFO, CIO, CDO, CMO Directors: TMT, Consumer, Healthcare, Industrials, Financial institutions, Energy Analysts: 3 per industry group Junior Analysts: 1 per group
