Pure Leapfrog is a business led charity that is the leading social investment provider within the community energy sector. We provide low cost finance to UK projects, drawing on a credit facility from Big Society Capital. We also support international carbon reduction projects via carbon offsetting. We introduce affordable professional expertise, provided through our network of lawyers, accountants and other professional service providers. Pure Leapfrog (charity no. 1112249) was formed from a merger in 2013 of two charities, Pure the Clean Planet Trust and Carbon Leapfrog, who each shared a vision of reducing climate change by supporting community led low carbon projects. Achievements: We have provided low cost loans and affordable professional expertise to over 90 community energy projects and offset over 150,000 tonnes of emissions through projects in Africa, India and in other developing countries. Our work creates long lasting social impact. The projects that we support improves the financial stability of schools and community centres by reducing their fuel bills. They also directly reduce fuel poverty and create high quality jobs in new social enterprises. At a community level, we are creating entrepreneurial opportunities for individuals in areas of deprivation to take a direct stake in their community assets. Vision: Our vision is to ensure that community energy becomes a significant part of the sustainable energy mix. Working in partnership with government, investors, and communities, we are dedicated to overcoming the financial and non-finance barriers faced by community energy. We are innovating the way that community energy is financed, creating demand for community-based renewables and energy efficiency projects.
