Overview

Our Mission: Project Soar is a feminist teen girls’ organization and movement established in Morocco in 2015. Through a scalable empowerment program, called Soar in a Box, Project Soar builds the capacity of teen girls to be the feminist leaders of today and tomorrow. PS Methodology: PS uses its own signature 25 workshop empowerment curriculum. This Arabic and English language curriculum is based on five modules that are central to every empowered girl; PS Girls know their Value, Voice, Body, Rights, and Path. PS in a Box: The PS empowerment curriculum is packaged into a portable kit called Project Soar in a Box (PSB). Each PSB provides a team of two trained local women Empowerment Facilitators with all the tools they need to lead a “squad” of 15-20 teen girls through the program. PS Footprint: PS has an active network of over 3,000 PS girls and is continuing to grow the teen feminist movement. Our replicable, scalable PSB model currently has 34 chapters in Morocco and five chapters in Uganda, with a network of 174 trained female facilitators. PS Impact: As a PS Girl progresses through each module, she undergoes a transformative process whereby she further develops her self-confidence; speaks up; embraces her adolescent body; advocates for her rights and the rights for all girls; and sets future goals. Although coming from the lowest socio-economic class, PS girls do better than other more privileged teen girls: 90% of PS Girls passed their High School Entry Exam vs 67.9% of all students nationwide, 32% higher than the national average for both boys and girls. 95% of PS Girls passed their Baccalaureate Exam vs 54.3% of all girls nationwide. 75.5% higher than the national average for girls. 94.5% of PS Girls continued on to higher education vs. 51.4% of all girls nationwide, 83.8% higher than the national average for girls. Only 1.4% of PS Girls married underage, 91.25% lower than the national child marriage average of 16%.
