Overview

The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) is the public information arm of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines as mandated by Executive Order No. 100 signed in 1986. PIA serves the Office of the President through the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), National Government Agencies, Government Owned and Controlled Corporations, Government Financial Institutions, local government units, and other public sector entities in communicating their programs, projects, and services to the Filipino people. PIA provides timely, accurate, relevant, and truthful information through numerous traditional and new media platforms and its 16 Regional Offices and 78 Information Centers across the Philippines. In addition, PIA aims to engage the public, facilitate free flow of information and provide free and equal access to government information to allow people to make sound decisions that would improve their lives and allow them to take civic action and contribute to nation-building. PIA’s battlecry ‘Empowering communities’ demonstrates the vision of a well-informed Filipino and empowered Filipino.
