Overview
Pathways Togo: Educating Women, Empowering the World A secondary education is a distant dream for most Togolese girls because young women and girls are frequently forced to drop out of school to work in the home, on the farm, or in the local market. These conditions persist despite clear evidence that educating girls and young women is the surest way to improve life in developing countries. That is why Pathways Togo joins international efforts to improve the quality of life for families in Togo through four programs that directly target our most potent, untapped resource: women. By providing scholarships, life skills training, mentoring opportunities, and small-scale community improvement grants, Pathways Togo embraces the vision: educating women, empowering the world. Pathways Togo scholarships are designed to remove the barriers to education that often make the difference between opportunity and despair for an individual, and between equality and poverty for a nation. Through one-on-one mentoring and annual conferences, Pathways Togo increases the impact of its scholarships by ensuring recipients gain the confidence and skills they need to make the most of their education. In selecting grantees, sponsoring mentors, and organizing conferences, we work with local partners to ensure scholars receive support and guidance from within their own communities. By helping women fulfill their potential, Pathways seeks to make a sustainable, just contribution to Togo's development.
