Palais Bénédictine

Overview

Bénédictine recipe was inspired by a health elixir developed in 1510 by a Benedictine monk from Fécamp Abbey. Unfortunately, the recipe was lost at the beginning of the 18th century . In the mid-19th century, Alexandre Le Grand, a spirit merchant from Fécamp, accidently came across a grimoire from Fécamp Abbey in his family’s belongings. The book was signed by a certain Bernardo Vincelli. Using one of the recipes, composed of 27 plants and spices, he decided to create a liqueur of aromatic complexity and perfect balance. Despite his expertise in spirits and distillation, it took him one year to create a liqueur with a sophisticated and harmonious taste, in 1863. This palace, which was completed a little over 30 years after the creation of the Bénédictine liqueur, formed a sort of backdrop for the brand.
