PBEC’s Story Established in 1967, PBEC was established to be a bridge between government & business; to bring attention to the opportunities and potential of an emerging Asia that sought the same prosperity and growth as a post-war Europe and the US. 50+ years on, PBEC has been an active participant in its extraordinary development over time. Our own story is closely aligned to that of APEC - Asia Pacific Economic Council, as its progenitor. Our role in providing Authentic Intelligence to our Members & acting as the independent voice of responsible business & trade across Asia Pacific continues to bring value to our Members and the societies in which they operate. PBEC Vision The Pacific Basin Economic Council believes that through cooperation and the exchange of ideas, the private sector can work with governments and civil society to promote significant and responsible growth, prosperity and trade in APEC member States. We are the only institution that links Latin-America with the rest of Asia and the Pacific in order to create opportunities for the private sector.
