Overview

P.S. (peer support) We Care is a student organization that was founded in 2013 by the inaugural class of Yale-NUS and works closely with the Yale-NUS Counselling Center to provide peer counselling/support for students. We operate on an open-door, walk-in basis from 9PM to midnight, 6 days a week. Our core principles to peer counselling is that of being non-judgemental (accepting the counsellee and their experiences without judging or holding them to a specific moral standard), non-directive (to listen and support without directing the counsellee’s course of action), and confidentiality. Our peer counsellors receive internal and external training every semester to develop active listening skills, crisis management techniques, and knowledge on mental health disorders. Some of us are trained in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and First Aid for Mental Health.
