Overview
The Recreation Association of the Public Service of Canada (best known as the RA or RA Centre) operates the RA Centre a not-for-profit recreation and leisure facility in the National Capital Region operating for over 80 years. There is no other operation in the National Capital Region that matches the scope of activities and membership of the RA. Over 50 member activities including an extensive range of sports, recreation, fitness and leisure are available for individuals of all ages. Being a member of the RA is like having a second home and family. Our members are dedicated, social and fun people seeking a lifestyle that includes health and wellness. The RA community represents the “real” social network by providing sport, recreation, health and meeting opportunities for members and guests. Delivered in a safe environment that values fun, respect and excellence, the RA members celebrate in a social atmosphere with a new story created each day. Our facilities include: • a pickleball facility with 7 courts • a 6 curling sheet rink; • a multi purpose gymnasium for basketball, volleyball and other sports; • 3 soccer fields; • 4 softball diamonds; • 2 beach volleyball courts; • a firearms and archery range; • racquet courts (6 badminton, 6 squash and 1 racquetball); • a photo studio; • several meeting and conference rooms; • 10 corporate fitness facilities; • 40 government cafeterias; • the House of Sport housing 40 national, provincial, multi-sport, healthcare and supporting organizations.
