Overview

The Oconee County Chamber of Commerce is a volunteer organization of business and professional people. The primary function of a Chamber of Commerce is to act as the spokesperson for the business and professional community and translate into action the will of its members. The governing documents of the Chamber are the Bylaws and the Strategic Plan. These are annually reviewed and updated the Board of Directors. Each year, the members also develop a series of goals and objectives to be accomplished based on the Strategic Plan. Executive responsibility rests with the President and staff, who must operate within the framework of the budgets established, programs adopted and policies developed by the Board of Directors. The staff is answerable to the President, the President to the Board and the Board to the membership.
