NISRA is an extension of 13 member park districts or recreation department, providing community recreation for local children and adults with disabilities. We help participants develop skills, make new friends and have fun! NISRA serves communities in McHenry County and parts of Cook, Lake and Kane counties. Programs are offered in all of the member communities at public and commercial recreation facilities that include: Barrington, Cary, Crystal Lake, Dundee, Elgin, Hampshire, Harvard, Huntley, Lake in the Hills, Marengo, McHenry, Wauconda and Woodstock. NISRA provides recreation programs for approximately 1,200 individuals with disabilities which account for nearly 7,000 registrations for activities annually. We offer over 900 weekly recreation programs, special events, camps and trips each year.
