Established in 2010, the Nonviolent Initiative for Democracy, Inc (NID) is a nonprofit organization based in Needham, MA that aims to teach the principles and methods of nonviolence in the process of establishing democracy. Our current focus is on Iran, where our expertise can have the greatest impact. Since 2010, the Nonviolent Initiative for Democracy (NID) has supported the democratic movement in Iran through peaceful and inclusive methods, encouraging governments and citizens towards the nonviolent establishment of democracy and the promotion of pluralism, tolerance, and gender equality. NID envisions an inclusive democratic Iran where women have equal rights and the opportunity to fully participate in political decision-making processes.
