Overview

On the back of the 2020 Neuroscience Ireland Young Investigator Symposium, the NSI-ECRN was established as a virtual forum for neuroscience Postgrads and Postdocs to discuss their research, share technical expertise, help foster collaboration, and grow the neuroscience community across Ireland. The ECRN aims to advance the careers of early career researchers in Irish neuroscience and to stimulate collaborative efforts between all institutions across the four provinces of Ireland. ECRN Virtual Landscape Comprising of NSI Website tab, ECRN Twitter group (~700 followers), and ECRN Slack group. We strive to develop a community of like-minded students, researchers and academics to create a platform for scientific knowledge exchange, communication, publication, and outreach. Neuroconnect Seminar Series Monthly virtual research talk from ECRs • Deliver an extended schedule of talks: facilitate advertisement, engagement, and knowledge exchange • Engage with similar groups abroad (CamNeuro, UK_DRI ECRN, etc.) • Include technical and informative seminars (Flow cytometry, neuroimaging, careers in industry, CV and grant writing, skill transfer, and building an online research presence) Professional Progression • Facilitate discussion between ECRs and experienced researchers across the island to foster mentorship programmes and facilitate career progression
