Overview
NatureSpace Partnership designed, manages and delivers District and Organisational Licensing for great crested newts operating across England. We work with developers and participating local authorities to assess development proposals under the scheme, advising on the scheme’s requirements. All costs to use the scheme are proportionate to the net impact of development. The scheme was developed by a consortium of organisations – The Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Trust, Freshwater Habitats Trust and Nature Metrics – in conjunction with the South Midlands local planning authorities. NatureSpace delivers the scheme to alleviate development issues surrounding great crested newts and to improve the conservation status of newts simultaneously. The District Licensing Scheme now covers over 60 local planning authorities across: – Bedfordshire – Berkshire – Buckinghamshire – East Sussex – Gloucestershire – Hampshire – Milton Keynes – Northamptonshire – Oxfordshire – Staffordshire – Surrey – West Sussex The Network Rail Organisational Licence covers the Eastern and Southern regions.
