NATO C3 Agency

Overview

In 2012, NC3A merged with four other NATO bodies to form the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency). NC3A no longer exists. With roots going back over 50 years, the mission of the NATO C3 Agency was to support NATO through the seamless provision of unbiased scientific support and common funded acquisition of Consultation, Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities. NC3A existed from 1996 to 2012. Customers NC3A served the NATO Alliance, its constituent nations and agencies. It also had a smaller, but important role to play serving nations and entities with which NATO has close ties. It was a non-profit organization and 100% customer-funded, meaning its customers were its only source of operating revenue. Track Record The NC3A was a valued and effective arm of the Alliance, delivering products and services across the entire C4ISR life cycle, from system concepts and requirements to fielded systems and other operational assistance. It maintained an integral and supporting presence in all of NATO's theatres of operation, including the Balkans, Afghanistan, and Iraq. It implemented key systems that the leadership of NATO needed in order to perform political consultation and military functions of command and control: terrestrial and satellite communications; the automated information systems and applications that use these media to exchange information; analytical and NATO expertise underlying all R&D and acquisition projects, and much more.
