Overview
The National Mental Health Commission provides insight, advice and evidence on ways to continuously improve Australia’s mental health and suicide prevention systems and acts as a catalyst for change to influence reform and help people live contributing lives. Set up in 2012, the Commission’s approach is to see mental wellbeing as important to the individual, their family, support people and community. This sees that the interconnections between services, families, employers and co-workers, health providers, teachers and friends, together improve mental wellbeing and a sense of a life well lived. The Commission works across all areas that promote mental health and prevent mental illness and suicide including government, health, education, housing, employment, human services and social support. By leading, advising, collaborating and reporting we help transform systems and promote change, so that all Australians are enabled to lead contributing lives in socially and economically thriving communities.
