Overview

The Native American Capital and Investment Alliance (NACIA) is dedicated to advancing the lives and financial opportunities of Native Americans by supporting: Native founders in successfully accessing equity and alternative debt funding; Native investors in their quest to align in harmony around investment opportunities and principals; Native leaders by increasing their representation on corporate boards; emerging Native capital managers by cultivating and mentoring the next generation of fund managers and investment advisors; and, capital investors and alternative debt lenders in collaborating on making their products available to, and tailored for, Indian Country. Our name pronounced as “nah-see-ah,” unifies Capital and Investment as allies (not just associates) in a common cause. The focus on “alliance” further signals the organization’s acknowledgment of, and respect for, Native American tribes – many of which are independent sovereign nations. The acronym is a conjugation of the Spanish word “nacer” which means “to be born,” but also contains “CIA,” a naming convention for a U.S. intelligence agency, both standing in stark counterbalance. For one acronym to convey its meaning with strength and respect, as well as allusions to two other dramatically different meanings in seeming counter-balance, is symbolic of various energies coming together in balance for the common purpose of advancing Native people. NACIA, is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, founded by Relevance Ventures and Skoden Ventures, in association with its founding Board members.
