Overview
Welcome to the Department of Management, Technology, and Economics (D-MTEC) at ETH Zurich. We conduct basic and applied research in management, economics, innovation, system dynamics and risk. Much of our research aims at improving the understanding of the role of technology in society, industry, organisations, and the lives of individuals. D-MTEC is one of 16 departments at ETH Zurich, the only department entirely focused on management and economics. Through its research, teaching and technology transfer, D-MTEC serves as a bridge between technology and science research on the one hand and social sciences, industry, policymaking and society at large. D-MTEC is home to 23 chairs, the KOF Swiss Economic Institute, and a range of centres and labs covering a multitude of disciplines in a wide network of organisations. Altogether, more than 400 employees work at the department. D-MTEC offers a full-time Master of Science programme and various continuing education programmes, and provides extensive service teaching for ETH as a whole. It collaborates with partners from academia, industry and society at large. D-MTEC appears in several international university rankings, such as the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, in which it is ranked 12th worldwide in Business and Economics in 2021.
