Model European Union Strasbourg

Overview

Model European Union Strasbourg was established in 2007 and remains the largest and most authentic simulation of European politics on the continent. Model European Union Strasbourg is a week-long conference that takes place every spring at the official seat of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France, inviting roughly 200 students and young professionals to debate EU legislation by taking on one of five roles: Member of the European Parliament, Minister in the Council of the EU, Lobbyist, Photo, Video or Press Journalist, or Interpreter. The conference is organised by an international Organising Team of over 70 volunteers with 32 nationalities represented and supported by Erasmus+ and the European Parliament. The association behind MEU Strasbourg is part of the BETA family, a group of non-profit, politically independent organisations that seek to empower young Europeans and facilitate intercultural exchanges within Europe and beyond. The Bringing Europeans Together Association (BETA) was founded in 2008 and is aimed at supporting simulations of the EU all across Europe. As of 2017, BETA’s national branch, BETA France, is the legal basis for MEU Strasbourg and responsible for providing organisational support.
