The METU History Society is an academic society that has been operating under the direction of the METU Cultural Affairs Office since 1986. With a 30-year tradition and a wide range of areas of study, the society is one of the most active on campus. The society regularly organizes weekly seminars, trips, international conferences, alumni talks, formal dinings, coffee hours, film screenings, museum visits, and joint events with other academic societies at METU. In past years, scholars and experts from institutions such as Princeton University, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the Harvard Weatherhead Center, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Collège de France and Cambridge University have participated in events organized by the METU History Society.
