MENTOR New York

Overview

Mission To fuel the quality and quantity of mentoring relationships for young people and close the mentoring gap in New York. History Since 1993, MENTOR New York , formerly The Mentoring Partnership of New York and Long Island, utilized local outreach strategies and on-sight training of mentoring volunteers and professionals, using our research-based methods to successfully train over 1500 individuals annually and supported over 400 programs serving 57,000 youth. In 2015, the Long Island and New York City offices leveraged their combined resources to explore expansion throughout the state. Regional outreach strategies gleaned the need for training and technical assistance throughout the state to support current mentoring programs and start new mentoring programs in schools, community based organizations and youth serving organizations interested in incorporating mentoring relationships in their service portfolio. In the next 5 years, MENTOR New York will implement a strategic vision that positions the organization as the New York State resource for research-based training, technical assistance and resources. MENTOR New York is leveraging its rich history and the power of its National Affiliate, MENTOR National to support mentoring in New York State. Vision To create mentoring cultures and foster mentoring relationships wherever young people live, learn, work and play.
